A connector links a tool you already use, such as Box, Notion, or Stripe, to Compound’s AI agent. Once connected, the agent can query that tool live from a chat: search a folder in Box, read a Notion page, or pull a customer’s payments from Stripe. Nothing is synced or copied into Compound in the background. The agent reads from the tool at the moment you ask, with your own login, so it can only see what you can see there.
Every connector works the same way. Connect once from Settings, switch it on in a chat, and ask.
Connect a tool
Open Connections in Settings
In Compound, open Settings > Personal > Connections. Each available tool is listed with its status, Connected or Not connected. Use Search providers to find one quickly.
Click Connect and sign in
Click Connect next to the tool. You are sent to that tool’s own sign-in page to log in and approve the access Compound asks for. Compound never sees your password; the tool issues Compound a token tied to your account, which you can revoke at any time.
After you approve, you return to the Connections tab and the tool shows Connected.
Switch it on in a chat
In the chat composer, open Connectors and switch on the tools you want the agent to use. The switches are remembered per chat, so a chat about one deal can keep Box on without re-enabling it each message. Add connectors in that menu takes you back to Settings to connect more.
What the agent can see
- Your access, nothing more. Each connection uses your own login. If you cannot open a file or record in the tool, neither can the agent.
- Per user, not per Drive. A connection belongs to your account. Teammates in a shared Drive each connect their own account, and each of them sees only what their own login allows.
- Read in place. What the agent reads in a chat stays in that chat. A file is stored in Compound only if you ask the agent to import or create one, and that copy then follows Compound’s Drive sharing rules.
Disconnect a tool
On the Connections tab, click Disconnect next to the tool and confirm. Compound revokes its token, and the agent can no longer query that tool until you connect again. Revoking Compound from inside the tool’s own account settings has the same effect.
Company-managed tools
Some tools let an administrator control which apps employees may connect. If you click Connect and the tool reports that the app is not authorized for your organization, your admin needs to approve Compound once for everyone. The guide for each tool below includes the steps for admins.
