The agent can work from three kinds of data:
- Your files: anything you upload into an agent’s Files.
- Public data: SEC filings, earnings transcripts, financial statements, stock prices, news, the web, and prediction markets. Built in; nothing to upload or connect.
- Connected apps: tools like Box, Notion, and Stripe, which the agent queries with your login. See Connectors.
You don’t pick sources per message. Ask, and the agent uses whatever the request needs from the sources the agent is allowed to use.
Public data
Each group of public data is a capability in Agent settings > Capabilities (open the agent switcher at the top of the sidebar and click Agent settings). All are on by default; the agent’s owner can turn any of them off.
| Capability | What the agent can read |
|---|---|
| Read company filings and financials | Company profiles and screens; standardized and as-reported financial statements; daily stock prices; SEC filings (10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, proxy statements, S-1, and more); earnings call transcripts; investor presentations and press releases; funding rounds and company news |
| Search the web | Live web search, web pages, downloadable files and PDFs, and posts from a curated set of X accounts |
| Read prediction markets | Prediction market odds, their history, and positions |
You can combine sources freely: “Compare what Acme said about gross margin on the Q3 call to the latest 10-Q and to recent analyst commentary on the web” draws on transcripts, filings, and the web in one answer.
Every fact the agent takes from a source is cited, with a link back to the filing page, transcript passage, or web page.
A new SEC filing can take up to a day to become available to the agent.
To browse company data yourself, open Company Universe. It has profiles, financials, documents, and, with a FactSet subscription, analyst estimates.
Your files
Upload files by dragging them onto the chat or the Files page, or with the upload icon at the top of Files. Files in an agent are available to every task in that agent, so upload once and refer to the file in any request. See Files for supported types.
Import from Google Drive
At the top level of Files, click the upload icon to open Add Files, then choose Add from Google Drive (it isn’t offered inside a folder or from the chat). You’ll be asked to sign in to Google the first time. Compound copies the file into the agent’s files. It’s a one-time import, not a sync. To bring in a newer version, import it again.
Connected apps
Box, Notion, Stripe, and other tools are connected once from Settings > Personal > Connections. Your default agent, Frankie, then uses them whenever a request needs them. See Connectors.
Which to use
- Internal documents, drafts, or anything non-public: upload them.
- Public company filings, transcripts, and financials: ask for them. You get the canonical version with accurate citations, without downloading anything.
- Files that already live in Box or another connected tool: ask Frankie to find them there instead of downloading and re-uploading.
- Material a team reuses: upload it once to a shared agent, and everyone with access can use it.
What to read next
- Connectors: connect Box, Notion, Stripe, and other tools.
- PDFs: how the agent reads and cites PDFs and SEC filings.
- Company Universe: follow companies and act on their filings and earnings.
